November 13 is municipal election day in the City of Toronto. Where will you be?

A team of more than 12,000 election workers are needed to ensure that a fair and accurate election is conducted.

Who are these election workers? They are a diverse team of civic-minded individuals, residents, citizens, neighbours, retirees and students.

Why participate? It's a great way to earn a little extra cash, meet people in the community, gain new skills and be a part of democracy in action.

Positions available include:

Ballot Officer
Customer Service Officer
DRO (Deputy Returning Officer)
MDRO (Managing Deputy Returning Officer)
Standby Election Officer
Tabulator Officer
Receiving centre staff

Is it just me, or is getting harder and harder to find a job with benefits these days? I'd like to see a Toronto dentist as I'm a busy mom with two young kids--and of course they're going to need benefits at some point, too! I suppose I should be thankful that we live in a country with health care coverage, but there are times when I wonder what I'm working so hard for! I wish that benefits packages were just a given with full-time jobs.
