Signup for the $20,000 Style Makeover test and get the links to the BORDERFREE (Tigerdirect included)...

Here is the page you get when entered (I don't know if it works or not though...) http://www.borderfree.ca/en/consume...est/success.jsp

Enjoy :)

Doesn't seem to work for me.

I registered and then clicked the "shop now" link, put an item in my cart and then calculated shipping. It sure wasn't zero.

Anybody have any ideas?

It's not free shipping, but BorderFree gives you a firm price for merchandise you are considering buying from US retailers.

Their price includes currency exchange to Canadian dollars, shipping and handling, duties if any, GST and PST. Right down to your front door.

A nice way to know how much before commiting to a deal. I haven't completed any purchase yet using BorderFree, but the quotes were reasonable - and beat prices in Canada for some headphones I was looking at.

eCost.com is a big online electronics store that also offers the BorderFree checkout. I will end up buying something from them via BorderFree eventually. It's a nice service for Canadian buyers.

Thanks for the heads-up. I think I became confused because the last time this border-free stuff happened TD had free shipping. It even linked through their registration page.

It's buyer beware with this one though, as far as TD is concerned. When I tested it with a small item the shipping was insane.

I am going to check out that eCost site though.

Canada Post included a free booklet in today's mail about this contest and service. Some points of interest:

* Use this link for the contest - $20,000 Home Makeover Contest

* There are actually two ways to win.
1) Receive 1 entry for a chance to win the $20,000 Style Makeover contest when you register online.
2) After you register, you will get 3 additional entries for each purchase you make with participating retailers online or by phone between October 7, 2005 and December 31, 2005.

* The Grand Prize consists of four $5000.00 gift certificates (one each from Sears, Brookstone, Crate & Barrel, TigerDirect.ca ) with a total value of $20,000. Only one Grand Prize is available to be won. The Shopping Spree is solely for the winner, but that winner is allowed to bring one guest to experience the shopping-spree taking place in Toronto.

* There are also secondary prizes to be won. They include:
1) Two gift certificates valued at $2,500 each from participating retailers of your choice
2) Four gift certificates valued at $500 each from participating retailers of your choice

* The contest ends on Dec 31st, 2005, and the draw will be held on Jan 31, 2006.

:( I was looking for the free shipping promotion they had before -- but still nice to see Canada Post helping us get american goods cheaper than we can get some of these things here!!
