IF YOU ARE WITH ROGERS I THINK YOU ARE BETTER JUST ASKING THEM TO LOWER YOUR INTERNET TO $35/MTH. By the time the 3 years are up the monitor will not be worth it.
$230/36 = $6.39 --> That's all your are getting. We can do more complicated calculations here with the first 3 months & one month free & even allocate inflation./taxes

But if you get $35/mth with no contract you be more ready to snatch up offers when these guys get really desperate. Now if you need the monitor today, then obviously the decision is a bit different.

The price of ISP will go down, because Rogers and big company alike are throttling their internet service. Which means no p2p and bittorrent downloads!! For this reason many people are switching (like myself) to other company’s that don't throttle their Internet service. When I cancelled my service with Rogers, in hope to retain me they offered me with two offer-$25 a month for first 6 month then @46 for the next 6 month, or $35 a month with no contract. I told them for the last few months you been lying to me that you don't throttle your services and now you are telling that it’s the company's new policy? No Thanks! Anyways back to my point why the internet prices will go down; smaller companies offers service for about $25-30 a month and they don't throttle their services. Other companies (Rogers) have to compete with them and so I predict the cost of internet service will go down!

What ever you do don't sign any contract!! Specially the Bell Canada 3 year contract! Here's why..

year1 ($46.95x9month)+($20+20(2nd and3rd month/first month free)=$462.55
year2(46.95X12month)=563.40
year3(46.95x12month)=563.40
Total for 3year=$1589.35-$229(free LCD monitor value-I don't think so!)
which =1360.35/36months=$37.79 Average cost of internet per month for 3 years!

Conclusion-Go buy abetter LCD monitor fro that price and get a cheaper ISP and save yourself the 3 year contract!!

My current $29.95/month for 1 year contact with Sympatico is going to end soon...If they continue to offer the same price for another year contact, is it a good deal? thanks

It depends on what type of service you are getting. If you are getting high speed over 3MBits and if they don't throttle your service; then it's a good deal. But I still wouldn't sign any contract because there are other companies that offer about the same service without any contract. I always switch ISP providers to take up on new promotions and that's why I never sign any contract.

I got the 5M high speed service without up/download limitation.
Yes, I used to do so (switch ISP to get better deal); however, it would stop the internet service for at lease few days during the ISP switch transition...:(
